Brandi Carlile (born June 1, 1981) is a country singer from Ravensdale, Washington. She gained prominence with the release of her self-titled debut album in 2005 and followed it up with Bear Creek in 2012, both of which reached #1 on the US Folk chart.
Prior to her music career, she began performing and writing songs at the age of fifteen before signing with Columbia Records in 2004. Interestingly, she used to serve as a backup singer for an Elvis Presley impersonator.
Carlile publicly identifies as lesbian and married Catherine Shepherd in 2012. The couple welcomed their first daughter Evangeline Ruth in 2014 and later had a second daughter named Elijah.
