Bianca Andreescu is a Canadian professional tennis player who made history as the first Canadian to win a grand slam singles title by defeating Serena Williams in the 2019 US Open final.
Andreescu began playing tennis at the age of seven and joined Tennis Canada’s National Training Program in Toronto at 11. She competed at the Juniors level in 2014 and made her ITF debut in 2015, winning her first career title at the Australian Open in 2016.
In recognition of her achievements, she was named the Tennis Canada Female Player of the Year in 2017 and also won the Fed Cup Heart Award that same year. She claimed her first WTA title with a victory at the 2019 BNP Paribas Open.
She was born on June 16, 2000, in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, and raised in Thornhill. Her father is Nicu Andreescu.
