Bia, born on August 16, 1991 in Boston, Massachusetts, is a rapper best known for her appearance on the Oxygen reality show Sisterhood of Hip Hop. In 2014, she was signed to Pharrell Williams’ record label. Before gaining fame as a rapper, Bia grew up around other rappers who later became well-known battle rappers. Despite being surrounded by music from a young age and spending time in recording studios with these artists, she did not reveal her own talent for writing rap lyrics until she turned 18.
She was introduced to Pharrell by her manager and auditioned for him by putting lyrics to one of his musical pieces. After completing the rap in under twenty minutes, they recorded it and this marked the beginning of her career.
Bia has Hispanic and Italian heritage.
