Bhikaiji Cama, born on September 24th, 1861 in India, was a prominent politician known for her significant role in the Indian Independence Movement. She gained recognition for her contribution to the design of the Flag of Indian Independence, which she unveiled at the 1907 International Socialist Conference in Germany.
Before achieving fame for her political endeavors, Bhikaiji was born into a wealthy Parsi family in Bombay and received education in various foreign languages at the prestigious Alexandra Native Girls’ Institution.
In addition to her political activities, she stood out as an advocate for women’s rights and equality. Notably, she delivered a stirring speech on this subject during a 1910 event in Cairo, Egypt.
