About Betty Cantrell
Betty Cantrell made history when she won the title of Miss America 2016 – making her the first former Miss Georgia to do so since 1953, and only the second ever. She had previously been a student at Wesleyan University but chose to attend Mercer University instead in order to study vocal performance. As part of her role as Miss America, Betty acts as a national goodwill ambassador for Childrens Miracle Network hospitals. Her parents are Mike and Tassie Cantrell and she is originally from Warner Robins, Georgia. Betty was crowned by 2015’s victor Kira Kazantsev.
