About Betnijah Laney
Betnijah Laney, born on October 29th, 1993 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is an American professional basketball player. She began her career with the WNBA’s Chicago Sky in 2015 and later joined the Perth Lynx in Australia where she quickly became one of its top players. In 2021, Laney joined the New York Liberty before winning a gold medal with the United States women’s national basketball team at the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.
Prior to her professional career, Laney played basketball for Smyrna High School in Smyrna, Delaware. Notably, she was a guest panel speaker at the 25th annual Turn 2 Foundation Dinner and was selected as the 17th overall pick in the 2015 WNBA draft.
Laney hails from a family with a strong basketball background – her mother Yolanda Laney also played basketball for Cheyney University of Pennsylvania.
