Bethany Hamilton is an American surfer, known for her resilience after surviving a shark attack and losing her left arm at the age of 13. She was born on February 8, 1990, in Lihue, Hawaii. Despite the life-changing event, she continued to pursue her passion for surfing and achieved success as a professional athlete.
Hamilton began participating in surf competitions at a young age and won her first event when she was just eight years old. Her inspiring story has been chronicled in various media forms, including an autobiography titled “Soul Surfer: A True Story of Faith, Family, and Fighting to Get Back on the Board,” which was adapted into the film “Soul Surfer” in 2011.
Aside from her accomplishments in surfing, Hamilton appeared as herself in the 2014 film “Dolphin Tale 2.” In addition to her contributions to literature and film, she continues to be active within the surfing community and released another book called “Surfing Past Fear” in 2022.
Family plays an important role in Hamilton’s life. She has two brothers named Timothy and Noah Hamilton. On August 18th of 2013, she married Adam Dirks with whom she welcomed their first child Tobias in June of 2015 followed by their second son Wesley Phillip three years later. Their family further expanded with the birth of Micah on February 14th ,2021and Alaya In July Of The Same Year.
