About Bernadette Peters
Broadway star Bernadette Peters is renowned for her award-winning performances in Song and Dance (1985) and the 1999 Annie Get Your Gun revival. She’s also starred in a number of other musicals including Into the Woods, Sunday in the Park with George and Gypsy. Since she was just three years old, Bernadette has been involved in show business—appearing on Juvenile Jury and Name That Tune before her sixth birthday. At nine she became a member of Actors Equity union and made her Broadway debut as an understudy for The Girl in the Freudian Slip. In 1977 until 1981 she dated actor Steve Martin from their movie together, The Jerk. After more than a decade, she married Michael Wittenberg; sadly he passed away after a 2005 helicopter accident. Theater critics recognize that Bernadette is one of the best interpreters of Stephen Sondheim’s work due to her involvement with many of his musicals over the years!
