About Barbara Park
Barbara Park (April 21, 1947 – November 15, 2013) was an American children’s author best known for her beloved Junie B. Jones series. Born in Mount Holly, New Jersey, she attended Rider College before receiving her undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama.
Park settled in Phoenix, Arizona after college and went on to write numerous popular children’s books including Beanpole and Almost Starring Skinnybones. Notably, she also wrote the young adult novel The Kid in the Red Jacket.
She was born to parents Doris and Brooke Tidswell and later had two sons with her husband Richard A. Park. Sadly, Barbara Park passed away in her mid-sixties due to ovarian cancer.
