About Barbara Eden
Barbara Eden (born August 23, 1931) is an American actress best known for her role as Jeanie on the NBC sitcom I Dream of Jeannie from 1965 to 1970. She was born in Tucson, Arizona and began her career singing with local bands before studying at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and the Elizabeth Holloway School of Theatre. Her film credits include Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, 7 Faces of Dr. Lao and The Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm.
Eden made her big screen debut as an uncredited extra in the 1956 film Back from Eternity and first appeared on TV in a 1956 episode of the series West Point. In 2011, she released her memoir, Jeannie Out of the Bottle.
In her personal life, Eden married Michael Ansara in 1958 and had a child before divorcing in 1974. She then married Charles Fegert followed by Jon Eicholtz in 1991. Tragically, her son Matthew Ansara passed away from a drug overdose at age 35 in 2001.
