About Ayo Edebiri
Ayo Edebiri is an American comedian, writer, and actress born on October 3, 1995, in Boston, Massachusetts. She has gained recognition for her work on Comedy Central’s Up Next and as a co-host of the podcast Iconography. The podcast features interviews with guests discussing their own personal icons.
In 2022, Edebiri joined the main cast of the comedy series The Bear and made an appearance on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah where she was interviewed about her background in teaching.
Edebiri discovered her interest in comedy during her 8th-grade drama class and later joined the improv club at Boston Latin School. She went on to attend New York University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in teaching.
Notably, Edebiri was part of the writing team for Big Mouth during its 5th season and subsequently replaced Jenny Slate as the voice for Missy in August 2020 following Slate’s departure from the role.
Edebiri was born to a mother who emigrated from Barbados and a father from Nigeria.
