About Aygun Kazimova
Aygun Kazimova (born January 26, 1971) is a legendary Azerbaijani pop singer credited with the creation of modern Azerbaijani music. Born in Baku, Azerbaijan, she has released more than a dozen successful albums since her career began in the late 1980s.
Before gaining fame, Kazimova briefly studied at the Maarif Technicum of Arts before dropping out in 1986. Throughout the following decade she entered and won a number of singing and talent contests before launching her debut album in 1997.
Aside from her musical career, Kazimova has been an active television personality and has hosted the competition series Best Model of Azerbaijan. In 2005, she made her acting debut playing the title role in the stage musical Khari Bulbullar.
Kazimova was born as the youngest in a family of four children. In 1989, she ran away with boyfriend Ibrahim Ibrahimov and a year later gave birth to their daughter Ilgara. After their divorce in ’91, she married Rza Guliyev.
