About Ayanna Pressley
Ayanna Pressley is an inspiring trailblazer: she was the first African-American woman elected to US Congress in Massachusetts. She comes from a family of activists – her mother, Sandra, was a community organizer and her dad, Martin, was a professor. Ayanna went to both Boston University’s College of General Studies and Metropolitan College before representing the at-large district for almost 10 years. Before she was elected to congressional office, the same district had been represented by President John F. Kennedy!
