About Ayana Ife
Ayana Ife is a fashion designer born on October 22, 1989 in Brooklyn, New York. She gained recognition as the runner-up on the 16th season of Project Runway and was notable for being the first modest – and first Muslim – fashion designer to make it to the season finale.
Before her rise to fame, Ayana would deconstruct and reassemble hand-me-down clothes she inherited from her sisters. Despite initial pressure from her parents to pursue a more stable career in nursing, she pursued a degree in apparel design after being inspired by a YouTube video of Rabia Z’s collection.
