About Aya Kanai
Aya Kanai is a business executive and fashion editor known for her work with major fashion magazines such as Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan, and Seventeen. She was born in the United States on January 1, 1111. In March 2022, she became Head of Editorial and Creative at Google Shopping and also served as one of the original judges of the TV series Project Runway: Junior.
Before her career in fashion, Kanai studied East Asian studies and visual art at Oberlin College in Ohio. She also interned for the fashion department at New York Magazine during college. Interestingly, she initially considered a career in performance art and puppetry, studying puppet theater internationally before switching to fashion.
Kanai’s family has played a significant role in her life; her father was a graphic designer while her mother worked for the renowned fashion designer Issey Miyake. In late 2018, Aya Kanai gave birth to her first child.
