About Audrey Wells
Audrey Wells (April 29, 1960 – October 4, 2018) was a screenwriter known for her work on romantic comedies. She was born in San Francisco, California and later studied at UC Berkeley and UCLA before venturing into her career.
Wells gained recognition for writing films such as The Truth About Cats & Dogs, Under the Tuscan Sun, and Guinevere. Her screenplay for Guinevere earned her the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award at the Sundance Film Festival in 1999.
Having been raised just outside of San Francisco, Wells had strong ties to the Bay area. Tragically, she passed away from cancer one day before her screenplay for The Hate U Give was released.
