Aparna Sen, born on October 25, 1945 in India, is a renowned director known for her work in films such as 36 Chowringhee Lane and The Japanese Wife. She has been the recipient of multiple National Film Awards. In her early career, she gained attention as a model for photographer Brian Brake. Aparna Sen was awarded the Padma Shri in 1986 in recognition of her significant contributions to Indian cinema. Her father was film critic and filmmaker Chidananda Dasgupta.
