About Annie Ernaux
Annie Ernaux is a French writer best known for her autobiographical publications. She was born on September 1, 1940, in Lillebonne, France. She grew up in a working-class town and later traveled to London, where she worked as an au pair. Ernaux pursued her education in literature at the University of Rouen and the University of Bordeaux.
She is recognized for winning the 2022 Nobel Prize in Literature for her work. Before gaining fame as a novelist, she wrote a thesis about the French writer Pierre de Marivaux.
Ernaux’s parents Blanche and Alphonse Duchesne ran a cafe. She married Philippe Ernaux and together they had two sons before divorcing.
