Anni Albers Feet

Anni Albers was a German-born American textile artist and printmaker, widely regarded as the best known textile artist of the 20th century. Born on June 12, 1899, in Germany, she began painting at a young age and later studied under an impressionist from 1916 until 1919 before attending the Bauhaus at Weimar in April 1922.

She was inducted into the Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame in 1994. Anni Albers came from a Jewish background; her mother’s family was involved in publishing while her father worked as a furniture maker. She was married to painter Josef Albers.
