Annet Mahendru, born on August 21, 1989 in Afghanistan, is a television actress well-known for her role as former KGB agent Nina Sergeevna Krilova on FX’s The Americans. She has also appeared in recurring roles on Fox’s The Following and NBC’s The Blacklist.
Prior to her acting career, Mahendru was active in high school cheerleading and kick line teams. After studying English at St. John’s University and enrolling in graduate school at New York University, she decided to move to Los Angeles where she began taking improv courses at the renowned Groundlings school.
In a 2015 interview with Maxim magazine, Mahendru revealed that the character of Nina was not originally intended to be significant in The Americans but persisted due to her performance and rapport with the producers.She is fluent in German, Russian, and English; additionally having some proficiency in French,Persian,and Hindi.
