About Anne Rice
Anne Rice is a bestselling novelist known for her witchcraft and vampire stories such as Interview with the Vampire and Queen of the Damned. Born on October 4, 1941, in New Orleans, Louisiana, she has also written historical novels like The Feast of All Saints and erotic works such as Exit to Eden. Many of her books have been adapted into movies.
Prior to achieving literary success, Rice dropped out of North Texas State College due to financial difficulties before relocating to San Francisco where she found work as an insurance claims processor. She later resumed her education and earned a Master’s degree in creative writing from San Francisco State University.
Rice’s popular Vampire Chronicles series epitomizes Gothic fiction and many of her works have been adapted into comic books and manga. She was born to Howard and Kay O’Brien in New Orleans. In 1961, she married poet Stan Rice with whom she had a daughter named Michele who tragically passed away from leukemia at six years old. Subsequently, Anne gave birth to their son Christopher.
