About Anne Fine
Anne Fine, born on December 7, 1947 in Leicester, England, is a renowned children’s author. She is best known for her works such as Madame Doubtfire and Goggle-Eyes. Fine served as the second British Children’s Laureate from 2001 until 2003 and has received numerous literary honors including the Carnegie Medal in Literature and the Hans Christian Andersen Award.
Before pursuing writing as a full-time career, she earned a college degree in politics from the University of Warwick after attending Northampton High School. Her first young adult novel, The Summer-House Loon, was published in 1978.
As for her personal life, Anne Fine was married to noted philosopher Kit Fine with whom she had two children: Cordelia and Ione. Following her divorce with Kit Fine, she entered into a long-term partnership with Dick Warren.
