Anne Catherine Emmerich (September 8, 1774 – February 9, 1824) was a German nun known for her stigmatic experiences, mystical insights and visions within the Roman Catholic Church. She lived in Germany and gained recognition as a religious leader.
Prior to joining the convent, Emmerich made a promise to learn the organ which she fulfilled during her time there. Her claimed visions of Jesus were penned into two books by Clemens Brentano.
