Anna Lee Fisher is an American astronaut and chemist who was born on August 24, 1949 in New York City, New York. She is known for flying on the STS-51-A space shuttle mission and being selected as part of the 1978 NASA Group.
Before pursuing a career in space exploration, Fisher earned a graduate degree in x-Ray crystallographic studies and chemistry from UCLA. She made history when she became the first mother to ever fly into space.
Fisher was married to William F. Fisher with whom she had two children before their divorce.
