About Ann Rule
Ann Rule, born on October 22, 1931 in Lowell, Michigan, was a non-fiction author best known for her true crime novel The Stranger Beside Me. This autobiographical and biographical account detailed her time with serial killer Ted Bundy.
Prior to gaining fame as an author, Rule began her career as a law enforcement officer for the Seattle Police Department. In 1969 she started publishing in True Detective magazine under the pseudonym Andy Stack.
Born Ann Rae Stackhouse in Lowell, Michigan, she later became a mother of four children including American novelist Leslie Rule. She passed away from congestive heart failure in July 2015.
