About Ann Putnam
Ann Putnam was born on October 18, 1679, in Massachusetts. She is known for her involvement in the Salem witch trials of 1692. At that time, she declared that she had been afflicted by witchcraft, which ultimately led to the execution of several innocent people.
Prior to the events of 1692, Ann became friends with Betty Parris and Mary Walcott who also claimed to have suffered from acts of witchcraft.
Interestingly, Ann later recanted her statements and claimed that Satan had deluded her into accusing Goodwife Nurse and her two sisters of witchcraft.
There is speculation that Ann’s parents, Ann Carr and Thomas Putnam may have coerced her into accusing people of witchcraft during this tumultuous period.
