About Ann Lowe
Ann Lowe was an African-American fashion designer born in Clayton, Alabama on November 21, 1898. She is best known for designing Jacqueline Bouvier’s wedding dress for her marriage to John F. Kennedy.
At the age of 14, Lowe began studying design at a Fashion school in New York City and quickly entered the industry. Despite losing an eye due to Glaucoma, she continued to design for the brand Madeline Couture through the 1960s.
Lowe’s family history included being the great granddaughter of a slave and a plantation owner.
