About Ann Hasseltine Judson
Ann Hasseltine Judson (1789-12-22) was an American missionary born in Massachusetts. She is remembered as one of the first American women to participate in missionary work abroad, and was the subject of more than fifteen biographies. Prior to her missionary work, she pursued a career as a teacher.
Judson traveled to both India and Burma and wrote about the plight of Burmese women during the First Anglo-Burmese War. Her husband, fellow Baptist missionary Adoniram Judson, was suspected of espionage and confined to a Burmese prison for over a year and a half.
