Anita Loos was a renowned American screenwriter and playwright, born on April 26, 1889 in California. She is best known for her work on the international hit film Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, famously starring Marilyn Monroe.
Prior to her fame as a screenwriter, Loos began her career as a stage actress, making her debut in the production Quo Vadis at the request of her father. By 1915, she had sold over 100 scripts, many of which were produced.
Loos grew up with a tumultuous family life; her father was known as an alcoholic and serial cheater.
