Angela Hunte, born on January 22, 1975 in New York City, is a songwriter known for her work on the Grammy-winning Jay-Z and Alicia Keys hit “Empire State of Mind.” She has also contributed to songs such as Britney Spears‘ “Do Somethin’,” Melanie Fiona’s “Bang Bang,” and Snoop Dogg & Miley Cyrus‘ “Ashtrays and Heartbreaks.”
Early in her career, she was mentored by hip hop music producer Salaam Remi. Additionally, she co-wrote several songs for reggae vocalist Gyptian (Windel Beneto Edwards), including “Be Alright” and “Good Girls.”
Born to parents from Trinidad and Tobago, Angela later married award-winning sound engineer James Wisner. The couple has two children named Brooklyn Rose and King Zion Wisner.
