About Andre Norton
Andre Norton, born on February 17, 1912 in Cleveland, Ohio, was a prolific American writer best known for her fantasy and science fiction novels. She achieved the notable distinction of being the first female recipient of the Gandalf Grand Master of Fantasy award.
Norton gained recognition for her works such as Quag Keep and Three Hands for Scorpio. Her novel Witch World, published in 1964, earned her a nomination for the prestigious Hugo Award. Before pursuing a career in writing, Norton briefly attended Western Reserve University in Ohio before working as a librarian.
In 1934 she published The Prince Commands; marking the beginning of an extensive literary career that spanned decades. Additionally, outside of her writing endeavors Norton owned Mystery House; a bookstore located in Maryland.
Throughout her life, she remained dedicated to crafting imaginative tales within various speculative fiction genres until her passing on March 17th ,2005
