About Amy Poehler
Amy Poehler, born on September 16, 1971 in Newton, Massachusetts, is a renowned TV actress known for her work on Saturday Night Live. She co-anchored Weekend Update with Tina Fey and parodied politician Hillary Clinton. Her portrayal of Leslie Knope on NBC’s Parks and Recreation earned her a Golden Globe Award.
Poehler was a member of the collegiate improv comedy troupe My Mother’s Fleabag while studying at Boston College. After obtaining her bachelor’s degree in media and communications in 1993, she pursued further improv training at Second City in Chicago. In 1999, she co-founded the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre.
Aside from her television success, Poehler has an extensive filmography including roles in Wet Hot American Summer, Mean Girls, Blades of Glory and Baby Mama. She lent her voice to the character Joy in Disney’s Inside Out (2015).
Growing up in Burlington, Massachusetts Amy Poehler is also recognized for being married to actor Will Arnett from August 2003 until their separation in 2012. The couple shares two children together. Following this marriage Amy dated actor Nick Kroll from 2013-2015.
