About Amanda Gorman
Amanda Gorman is an American poet born on March 7, 1998 in Los Angeles, California. Her work covers diverse subjects such as feminism and African culture.
Gorman gained widespread recognition after delivering her poem “The Hill We Climb” at the inauguration of U.S. President Joe Biden in January 2021, becoming the youngest poet to read at a presidential inauguration at the age of 22.
Before her rise to fame, she attended New Roads School in Santa Monica and later pursued studies in sociology at Harvard University.
In addition to her inaugural poem, Gorman has also published poetry collection titled The One for Whom Food Is Not Enough (2015) and was named the first National Youth Poet Laureate of the United States in 2017.
