About Allison Ann Higson
Allison Ann Higson (born March 13, 1973) is a Canadian swimmer. She gained recognition as a two-time Olympic breaststroke, individual medley, and freestyle swimmer.
She made history during the 1988 Canadian Olympic Trials by breaking the world record for the women’s 200-meter breaststroke with a time of 2:27:27.
Prior to her fame, she achieved gold medals in the 100-meter and 200-meter breaststroke at the 1986 Commonwealth Games held in Edinburgh, Scotland. Higson went on to compete in both the Seoul (1988) and Barcelona (1992) Summer Olympic games.
Higson currently resides in the United States with her husband Sean and their two children. She spent her childhood years in Mississauga before moving to Toronto’s suburbs.
