About Alison Lester
Alison Lester, born on November 17, 1952 in Australia, is a renowned children’s author and artist known for her widely acclaimed picture books and young adult fiction works. Her notable achievement includes winning the Children’s Book Council of Australia Award (CBCA) for her book “Are We There Yet?: A Journey Around Australia.”
Prior to gaining recognition as an author and illustrator, Lester attended a boarding school in Victoria, Australia before enrolling at The Melbourne Teachers’ College. In the late 1970s, she embarked on her career as an illustrator and eventually published her first children’s book titled “Clive Eats Alligators” in 1985.
Lester’s impressive body of work encompasses popular titles such as “Ernie Dances To The Didgeridoo,” “The Journey Home,” and “The Snow Pony.” Her upbringing on a seaside farm in Victoria nurtured her love for horses and literature.
