About Alisa Xayalith
Alisa Xayalith, born on August 25, 1986 in New Zealand, is a pop singer and the vocalist and keyboard player for the acclaimed Auckland-based band The Naked and Famous. The band garnered significant recognition in New Zealand, winning seven New Zealand Music Awards in 2011 including Single of the Year, Album of the Year, and Best Group.
Prior to her success with The Naked and Famous, Alisa formed the band with fellow vocalist Thom Powers while they were students at MAINZ music college in Auckland. Together with student and sound engineer Aaron Short, they began recording what would become their debut EPs.
Notably, songs by The Naked and Famous have been featured on popular television shows such as “The Vampire Diaries,” “Pitch Perfect,” and “Degrassi.”
Alisa’s musical influences stem from her father’s involvement in a local Laotian band; however, she experienced early tragedy when her mother passed away from breast cancer when she was only seven years old.
