About Alicia Ostriker
Alicia Ostriker is an award-winning American feminist poet, known for her brutally honest writing. She was born on November 11, 1937 in New York City, New York. Her poetry collections include A Dream of Springtime (1979), A Woman Under the Surface (1982), and The Volcano Sequence (2002). Ostriker studied at Brandeis University and earned her Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison before publishing her first poetry collection, Songs, in 1969.
She has received numerous literary honors including the Anderbo Poetry Prize, the National Jewish Book Award, and the Prairie Schooner Virginia Faulkner Award for Excellence in Writing.
Ostriker was married to Princeton University professor and astronomer Jeremiah Ostriker.
