About Alicia Myers
Alicia Myers is an American R&B musician born on November 20, 1957 in Detroit, Michigan. She first began her music career with the band Al Hudson & the Soul Partners before gaining fame for her solo career in the early 1980s.
Myers has produced several hits including “I Want to Thank You,” “Don’t Stop What You’re Doin,” and “You Get the Best from Me (Say, Say, Say).” Before her rise to stardom, she competed in a local talent competition at Detroit’s Martin Luther King Jr. High School where she sang alongside her brother and won first place. She also attended Lee University for her collegiate studies.
In addition to her musical achievements, Myers is known for surviving childhood tuberculosis and breast cancer in 1998. Following this experience, she became an advocate for breast cancer awareness.
She comes from a large family with eight siblings and is the daughter of Lawrence and Margaret Myers. Her older brother Jackie is also a musician who later joined the beach band Chairmen of the Board.
