About Ali Stroker
Ali Stroker is a stage actress known for her groundbreaking role as Anna in the 2015-2016 Deaf West Theatre’s revival of the musical Spring Awakening. Born on June 16, 1987, in New Jersey, she achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first wheelchair-bound actress to appear on a Broadway stage during her debut on September 27th, 2015.
Stroker’s journey to success was marked with adversity, as she became paralyzed from the chest down at the age of 2 due to a car crash. Undeterred by this obstacle, she graduated from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts with an MFA in 2009 and made history as the first wheelchair-bound actress to do so.
In addition to her theater accomplishments, Ali Stroker finished second in the reality competition series The Glee Project in 2012 and went on to secure a guest starring role on Glee in 2013.
Raised in Ridgewood, New Jersey by her parents Jodi and Jim alongside siblings Jake and Tory, Stroker also made headlines for dating Dani Shay.
