About Alessia Zecchini
Alessia Zecchini was born in Italy on November 11, 1991. She is a renowned freediver who has made a significant impact in the sport by breaking over 30 world records in both indoor and outdoor disciplines, all of which have been verified by either CMAS or AIDA. Zecchini has achieved numerous gold medals at World Championships and European Championships, as well as several silver and bronze medals.
In October 2019, she made history by becoming the first woman to reach a depth of -100m using only her arms in free immersion. Zecchini started her journey into freediving by completing a federal apnea course at “Apnea Blu Mare” when she was just 13 years old. She joined the Italian national freediving team in 2012 and became an athlete of Dive Free Roma and Nuoto Belle Arti in 2009.
Zecchini’s achievements have also been recognized through the biographical documentary The Deepest Breath, which premiered on Netflix in July 2023. In her personal life, Alessia Zecchini had previously dated her diving trainer Steve Keegan until his passing in June 2017 before starting a relationship with Mauro DePapa in 2018.
