Alcione Nazareth, born on November 21, 1948 in Sao Luis do Maranhao, Brazil, is a Brazilian world music singer. She rose to prominence in the late 1970s and is known for hits such as “Nao deixe o samba morrer,” “La vem voce,” “Gostoso veneno,” and “Ilha da mare.” Alcione hosted the show Alerta Geral on TV Globo for two years and released an album of the same name.
Before her fame, she began performing at the age of 13 singing at college parties. At 20 years old she moved to Rio De Janeiro where she started working at TV Excelsior. Alcione has a talent for playing the clarinet and trumpet. She has accumulated an impressive musical career with over 1.7 million followers on Instagram.
Born into a family of nine children in Sao Luis do Maranhao, her parents Joao Carlos and Felipa introduced her to traditional Brazilian music from an early age.
