About Alaina Reed Hall
Alaina Reed Hall was born on November 10, 1946, in Springfield, Ohio. She was a TV actress best remembered for her roles as Rose Lee Holloway on the NBC comedy series 227 and as Olivia on the children’s program Sesame Street. In addition to these iconic roles, she also appeared in numerous episodes of The WB sitcom Cleghorne!.
Prior to gaining fame on television, she began her acting career performing off-Broadway in a 1970s production of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band on the Road.
In addition to her work in television and theater, Reed Hall had a small role in the 1999 film Cruel Intentions starring Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe.
Reed Hall experienced personal struggles including a failed first marriage that resulted in two children. Her second marriage was to fellow actor Kevin Peter Hall which tragically ended with his death in 1991. Shortly before passing away from cancer herself, she married director Tamim Amini.
