About Aisha bint Hussein
Aisha bint Hussein, born on April 23, 1968 in Amman, Jordan, is a member of the royal family of Jordan. She is the sister of King Abdullah II and the twin sister of Princess Zein. Aisha holds the rank of major general in the Jordanian Military and serves as a diplomat at the Jordanian Embassy to the United States.
Before embarking on her diplomatic career, she earned a master’s degree in Strategic Security Studies at the National Defence University in Washington, D.C.
In addition to her military and diplomatic roles, Aisha also made history by becoming the first woman in the Middle East to earn her parachutist wings in the military. She is married to Ashraf Banayoti (formerly known as Ernest Anderson).
