Clara Haskil Feet

Clara Haskil, born on January 7, 1895 in Bucharest, Romania, was a renowned classical pianist known for her expertise in chamber music and mastery of early Romantic-era composers. Despite facing numerous physical challenges throughout her career, she overcame them to achieve recognition as a formidable musician.

Prior to gaining fame, she underwent training at the Paris Conservatoire under the guidance of notable instructors such as Alfred Cortot, Lazare Levy, and Mme Giraud-Letarse. Her dedication led her to graduate with top honors in both piano and violin at the age of 15.

In addition to battling scoliosis and stage fright, Haskil also endured a period of financial hardship. However, her talent eventually garnered widespread attention after an acclaimed concert tour in the Netherlands in 1949.

Haskil hailed from a Sephardic Jewish family based in Bucharest.
