Anastasia Pagonis (born May 2, 2004) is a swimmer from New York who has achieved success as a member of Team USA Paralympic team. Despite being blind, she has gained over 360,000 followers on her anastasia_k_p Instagram account for sharing motivational messages.
Pagonis was misdiagnosed with Stargardt disease and began to lose her eyesight at a young age. She ultimately went completely blind at the age of 14.
Notable achievements include winning two gold medals at the Australian event of the 2020 World Para Swimming World Series and commencing training for the 2021 Tokyo Paralympic Games as part of Team USA in 2020.
Following her loss of eyesight in 2018, Pagonis received therapeutic treatment for depression with support from her parents. Her mother’s name is Stacey.
