Amy Acker, born on December 5, 1976 in Dallas, Texas, is a television actress known for her roles in several popular series. She gained recognition as a regular cast member on the TV shows Angel, Alias, and Dollhouse. In 2012, she began portraying the character Root on CBS’s Person of Interest.
Prior to pursuing an acting career, Acker spent thirteen years training in ballet, modern dance and jazz dance. She obtained her B.A. in theater from Southern Methodist University and later appeared as Rachel Conroy in the series Happy Town (2010).
In 2003, Amy married James Carpinello and their family grew with the addition of their son Jackson in 2005 and daughter Ava in 2006.
