Her work gained widespread recognition when Kim Kardashian wore one of her dresses on television. Prior to achieving fame, Mackintosh pursued design studies at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts in London.

Interestingly, her brand was originally named Boom Boom The Label before adopting the acronym AYM which stands for Always Your Moment. Though born in Sydney, Australia, Alie built her successful business while based in Lewes, England.
