Yu Asakawa (born March 20, 1975) is a Japanese voice actress known for her work in popular anime series such as Naruto: Shippuden, Akame ga Kill!, and Ikki-Tousen. She is also a former member of the Hinata Girls music group.
Prior to gaining recognition in the entertainment industry, Asakawa lent her voice to manga-based series including Cho Mashin Eiyuden Wataru and Those Who Hunt Elves II. Additionally, she contributed vocal samples during the development of Vocaloid, a singing synthesizer software.
Asakawa was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan. She was previously married to fellow voice-over artist Showtaro Morikubo from 2007 until 2009.
