Wyomia Tyus, born on August 29, 1945, in Griffin, Georgia, is a celebrated runner known for her exceptional achievements in women’s track and field. She garnered three gold medals and a silver at both the 1964 Tokyo games and the 1968 Mexico City games.
Prior to her Olympic success, Tyus exhibited remarkable talent as a star runner at the University of Tennessee. Her accolades also include securing the gold medal at the Pan American Games while setting a new world record.
