Wu Jingyu, born on February 1, 1987 in Jingdezhen, is a Chinese Taekwondo athlete who achieved Olympic success by winning gold at the 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Olympics in the 49 kg weight class. She started practicing Taekwondo at the age of 12 and went on to become the first Chinese woman to win gold medals in the 49 kg class at both the Olympics and Asian Games. Her mother Lu Huaying played a pivotal role in supporting her daughter’s dream of becoming a world champion.
